Updated Control Journal - ME - and a Teaser

Whats up Flykids?
Its been busy here- we had VBS all last week and this week and since sunday my aunt and uncle have been at our house. They left today. But! On Monday I had the chance to declutter my : desk drawers , one extra drawer, and under the bed. I found lotsss of stuff to put in my CJ ! :)Here is an updated tour of my Control Journal.

My Control journal is filled to the brim! I can barely zip it!

Front Pocket

                                            Pocket on the inside of that pocket.

Holds my highlighters, pen, and sharpie I use in my Planner

Room for pens and pencils business card and wallet photo 

Another pocket! and my fingers... haha

When I first open it up. My name was written to the left by my friend and cousin :) She has awesome handwriting!

Yet ANOTHER Pocket!

Folders Left to Right: Planner, Dream Book, Lists and anything else, Cookbook.

Then Some Stickers.

Inside the one pocket : Sticky notes that I cut to use as tags and such.

Next pocket has my electronics. My MP3 I LOVE because Music gets me moving.

Next is the NO WHINING sign which I have doodled all over.

 

Then comes the flylady logo and page that says "My Control Journal" 

Body Clutter Investigator I dont use it to track weight loss but rather my sleep schedule and how much water and food I am eating aka wether I am eating healthfully. (5 or so copies of this page in my CJ)

I finished the Downy Touch of Comfort Quilt the other day. Here it is a little show and tell :)

Peanut Butter Jelly Sushi

Hey Flykids!
I for one am not a fan of sushi.. never tasted it but raw? Just not my type of food haha. This is completely different. Here it is:

Ingredients:
2 pieces of bread
Jelly
Peanut Butter

Serving Size : 1

Directions:

1. Take one piece of bread using a butter knife put peanut butter on the piece of bread.
2. Then proceed to put jelly on the same piece of bread.
3. Repeat steps above for the other piece of bread.
4. Roll up each piece of bread like you are making a scroll out of paper.
5. Ask your parent or guardian to cut the rolls in small pieces about 1 inch thick.
6. Enjoy!

                           There you go :) Peanut Butter Jelly Sushi.
                     Just a fun little twist on the traditional pb and j sandwich!

Evenings are pretty chaotic in our household. With five children who are all active in sports, it often feels like we’re on the go right up until bedtime. Making time for family dinners and homework is a high priority, but making it a smooth and easy process is often challenging.
After several years of searching for pencils, glue, scissors, etc. for the current assignment each night, it finally dawned on me that there just has to be a better way. My solution seems so incredibly simple — I can’t believe I didn’t think of this sooner!

This past fall when I was stocking up on school supplies at bargain prices, I purchased extras of everything; not only to replenish my kids’ needs at school but to create what we now call the Homework Box.

The Homework Box:

The homework box contains all of the supplies that any one of my kids might need to complete their homework on a given night, and it’s off limits outside of homework time so that we can be assured that we have a complete set of colored pencils or crayons available at all times.
We also store any flashcards or learning rings that a teacher sends home in the box to keep things simple. All of the items are housed in an inexpensive Sterilite tote that I picked up at Target.

Items in our Homework Box:

• ballpoint pens
• #2 pencils, sharpened
• pink erasers
• Elmers Glue-All
• Elmers Glue Sticks
• Crayola Crayons
• Crayola Markers
• Crayola Colored Pencils
• tape
• blunt-tip scissors
• ruler
• calculator
• notebook paper
• dictionary

While we still have our occasional homework battles because the kids are tired or grumpy, we’ve completely avoided the missing supplies issues so far this year!

Today it is time to dust! Go ask a parent for a feather duster or
whatever they like you to use to dust with and dust your dresser,
nightstands and desks! Dusting is a lot like petting a cat or dog.
You just pet the furniture with a feather duster or dust rag. Move
from side to side and from front to back.

Have fun and I am so proud of all of you for taking such good care of
your rooms!

Hey Flykids!

In one of the testimonials a flybaby sent to flylady she mentioned games she plays with her children to clean up. I thought you might enjoy them so here they are:

Pirate Treasure: This works especially well with Lego blocks. I tell them that we are pirates gathering our treasure, ready to be buried, and we "sail" around the playroom finding All of the "gold" to put in the "treasure chest". When it has all been found we "bury" it in the shelf where the toys are stored.

What Doesn't Belong: They love problem solving games and have always enjoyed that segment on sesame street and now in their mathematics. I get them to look around the room while I say in a sing-song voice "what doesn't belong?" they race to find something and put it where they know it does belong.

                                                        There ya go!

DIY Organizational Series Part 4

• 6×9 clipboards (found ours at michaels for 99 cents)
• easel (you can get them at wal-mart for a few bucks or use a coupon at your favorite craft store)
• patterned papers (scraps come in handy here)
• monthly birthday calendars (download below)
• adhesive
• ribbon and/or twine
• spray paint (optional)
• ink pad (optional)

THE SUPER EASY STEPS:

spray paint your clipboard (or you can mod podge some patterned paper onto it) and let dry… print out your calendars… cut 1″x5″ strips of patterned paper… ink the edges… adhere to calendars… fill in birthdays… tie up with ribbon and they’re ready to go!
