How To: Print on Index Cards

Hey Flykids!
Here is a tutorial on how to print on index cards :D
This is my Printer NOTICE: The tab to the right...

Now it is slid down
That makes the paper guiders go in like this:

Open Miscrosoft Word (I have the 2007 version)

Go to page layout. Then click on size.

 Click More Paper Sizes
Click the drop down arrow and scroll down until it says Costom Size.

The standard index card is 3 by 5
Enter the size of your index card in the width and height sections.
Press okay down at the bottom

That will change the document to make it look like this
Write what you like now

Put an index card into your printer

Anddd Print!

 Voila! :D

Just imagine the possibilities!!
 They are endless!

Have fun!
 Jess

Email me @ zieglje99@gmail.com with what you printed on index cards or comment on this post!
I cant wait to hear from you!!

Keeping Accountable

Hey Flykids!
I need some way to be accountable so I figured if I posted here what I do and dont get done then I could keep myself accountable. I will write down what I do throughout the day - things I need to work on- where I got sidetracked and then tomorrow I will post my results for today! I hope doing this will keep me accountable and make me do my routines. ( Yes, I will do my routines for a little while and then I get out of the habit (maybe it never was a habit?) Anyways! it is something I feel helps me and I need to do it. )

                                                                Flykid Jess
(Would you like to be held accountable? You can share in the comments your ta-das - things you need to work on - etc...) Cant wait to hear from you!

DIY Simple Bracelet

This is the tutorial. :D They are soooo super simple and I love mine!

Here is the tutorial from Sweet Verbena blog:
This project is inspired by one of my first pins. Credit goes to that first pinner out there who saw it and realized they could make it themselves.

Do you use Pinterest? It's funny how a site filled with such creativity can make me feel so un-creative. Like everything has been done before and no matter how great I think my idea is, chances are, someone has already done it. But maybe that's okay. I suppose creativity isn't defined by originality. And at the same time it makes me happy that such a creative network is growing on the web. That as a viewer, you can search just about anything + "tutorial"and find a step-by-step guide. What a long way we've come since our grandmother's generation of seamstresses.

Anyway, you can find me here on Pinterest if you'd like to see my other pins.

Materials:

Embroidery Floss

Beads (optional)

Hollow Charms like these:

Tutorial:

Cut 2 18" lengths of thread. Pinch the middle of one thread and pull it through the charm.

Then take the ends of the string and pull it through the loop.

Pull tight and repeat.

Cut and tie off ends with a bead.

Make a bunch more!

I almost threw my largest gold hoop away, before twisting it into this neat infinity shape. This one may actually be my fave now!

Wouldn't these be great bracelets to make and sell for a cause? Especially with that "believe" circle charm that I used. My supplies (from Hobby Lobby) were relatively inexpensive. Maybe you could even find some wholesale charms somewhere on the web?

Enjoy!

~ From Sweet Verbena

Right now my blogger isnt working well so I cant upload my photos but when it starts working I will ost the pictures of the bracelet I made!
 Have fun!

SURPRISE CHALLENGE and Organization DIY

Hey Flykids! I have a challenge for you and I dont think your gonna like it BUT we can do anything for 15 minutes, right?!

SO here it is : Clean under your bed for 15 minutes! Not sure how to organize underneath your bed - Flykid to the rescue! :)

Do you have some bags you could put stuff in?
Organize your stuff into bags according to items for example : cars and trucks, crafts, etc...

Do you have some cardboard boxes?
Organize the stuff into cardboard boxes according to items (like above) Boxes are great for stuffed animals! You can also use a sharpie or marker to label each box!

Do you have plastic containers?
You can do the same thing with these as above (although dont use sharpie on it, as you may decide to use it for something else..)

But remember - dont keep things you dont LOVE - Bless someone else with the stuff you dont love!

Do 15 minutes and then STOP!

Decluttering 101

"The 27-Fling Boogie

We do this assignment as fast as we can. Take a garbage bag and walk through your home and throw away 27 items. Do not stop until you have collected all 27 items. Then close the garbage bag and pitch it. DO NOT LOOK IN IT! Just do it.
Next, take an empty box and go through your home, collecting 27 items to give away. Suze Orman teaches this in her book, The Courage to be Rich. This will change the energy in your home and bring about good feelings. Every time I do this I feel better and my home is becoming decluttered in the process. As soon as you finish filling the box, take it to the car. You are less tempted to rescue the items.
Rule of thumb: if you have two of any item and you only need one, get rid of the least desirable.
I also sing a wonderful song as I am doing this fun job: “Please Release Me, Let Me Go,” as sung from the stuff’s point of view!

Hot Spot Fire Drill

Here is a problem that we all have and continue to struggle with: hot spots. What is a hot spot?
A hot spot is an area, when left unattended, that will gradually take over. My favorite analogy is of a hot spot in a forest fire; if left alone, it will eventually get out of hand and burn up the whole forest. This is what happens in our homes. If left unattended, the hot spot will grow and take over the whole room, eventually making the house look awful. When you walk into a room, this is the first thing you see.
Remember, clutter attracts clutter! Do you have areas like this that continue to grow if left alone? Does the rest of the family see this as a place to put things when they do not want to put them where they belong? It is our job to nip this in the bud! Get rid of that pile, find the surface underneath, and stop this hot spot from becoming a raging clutter inferno! Watch for the Hot Spot Fire Drill reminder, then try it — it works!

Five-Minute Room Rescue

This is a reminder to spend just five minutes clearing a path in your worst room. You know this area of your home: the place you would never allow anyone to see. Just five minutes a day for the next 27 days, and you will have a place that you can be proud to take anyone!"

                                ~ from Flylady.net

Now I know that what flylady wrote was meant for adults but you can easily adapt it so that it works for you. For example- where it says your home insert your room. De-cluttering is where you get rid of the stuff you don't like or use so you have more room. Did you know that you don't have to throw out all the stuff you don't use?!  If the item is usable - you can donate it (If you ask your mom about donating your items I am sure she can help you donate your items to help other people.) The above items are just some tools to help you declutter.

Remember:" If its fun it will get done!" ~ flylady

                              Have fun!

Small Art Case DIY

I found this really neat project to do: Click Here
(Instead of using the supplies she used to cut I used sissors and a knife(PLEASE ASK YOUR PARENTS BEFORE YOU DO THIS!!!!) and instead of her tape or whatever she used I used a hot glue gun (Be careful with this as it can get very very hot!) ) I used denim for the fabric and a cracker box for the cardboard.

 Have Fun!

GET ER DONE Homeschool method

Hey Homeschooled flykids!
Here are a couple of tricks for getting schoolwork done while still having breaks!

1. Do 1 subject and then take a 15ish minute break (depending on how long the subject took you)

2. Set the timer for your subject and if you finish before the timer goes off you can use that time to play. When the timer goes off get back to work!

3. Try to stay away from the computer ( I personally do cyber school and have a hard time staying off of facebook and pinterest and pretty much every other website or blog about crafts or organization or flylady TBH I am still very much trying to work on this because for me it is the nearing the end of the year and I am plain ol' tired of school work! Okay - enough rambling...)

4. Do you like checklists? I DO!! I LOVEEE checklists!! Here are some cool checklists you could use: http://www.chartjungle.com/checklists/checklist-numbered.html
Doesnt really have to do with school but I thought you would like it (A checklist...) : http://www.freeprintablebehaviorcharts.com/chore%20charts%204-10%20pdf/Things%20To%20do%20without%20list.pdf

5. For a checklist good old notebook paper works well :)

6. Or maybe you have a planner? Here is a video on how to use your planner well (This is not my video and I cannot take credit for any of it.) www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nc7vwfkYAk

                                                  Have Fun!!
